Toby is lonely. I can see it in his eyes. Although I give him all
Of my love and try to meet his needs for attention, he is sad. Toby's
Mind is far away, drifting through the clouds, floating endlessly
Through time. He is searching for Rusky, his friend, long since
Passed away. His eyes are glowing now and his look of content shows
Me he has found his playmate. Rusky and Toby race through the long
Green grass together and they playfully bite each other around the
Scruffs of their necks. Then when Toby is off guard Rusky bites his
Nose and Toby utters a startled yelp. Then off they race again, happily
Barking. Toby blinks once and look up at me. His daydream has finished
And his friend has gone. Where is Rusky, his accusing eyes ask. But how
Can the dead reply. I look away with a feeling of despair as Toby's Thoughts fade into nothingness.
