                                                                                                              page-141 KITTY CAT

Kitty cleans his white paws
And purrs with delight
As he rolls on his back
And into the night

He jumps to his feet
And pounces lightning fast
Catching his prey
A green blade of grass

He quickly turns and
Leaps onto the fence
And to the mongrel next door
Kitty growls in defence

For ten whole minutes
The angry dog barks at
The well mannered kitty
Simply smiles back

The back door slams
Kitty turns with a gleam
Yellow eyes seize the doorstep
Behold a fresh bowl of cream

He gallops to the dish
The cream milk is gone fast
Kitty's stomach grumbles
He is content at last.
