                                                                                                                page-22 BOY PLAYING COMPUTER

The gentle quiet boy will suffer/
within the darkness of space/ before the sun/
11.00pm/ and already the complexity of reason/
maps legend logic lives upon the screen/
he will flay the hydra beast as she calls
him/ calls him gentle/ quietly now/ wedged
in the bone bare kitchen/ the mind and skin he will wonder at the goddess/ upon the black buffalo/
goddess of the old and unwise/ delving deep/ disturbing
sleep/ into the self-learned and peaceful/ ruined heart/
goddess who has chased him down at 6.30pm/
herding him home/ alone/ along her thorn bush path/
all through dinner and into desert/ she has nurtured
the boy through his gentle years/ forgetting
the stained defiled birth/ of the monster he has
chosen to unearth/ the growing/ the unending
dying cry/ of armies gone mad on the screen as the black shaking goddess summons those creatures/
who converse in his head/ seeking power/
