NOTES FOR THE GIRLS ALONG THE RABBIT PROOF FENCE

The lengthening borders of an old mirage, beat into the wings of the whistling kites.

The desert sun shelters us, from no man's land and her dull roots share moisture.

Will you shine in darker places, or seek to avoid them?

We shine, we shine, this whole place lights our path before us,

For it is my one desire to shine out, like a lighthouse, into the night of the plateaus.

This is the continuation of my dream, in small bird steps,

In the land that best knows me as old mother spear, this knowledge, our heartbeat.

We exchange our stories in echoes, these slow transfusions,

And you give me this faith, that sets my wings soaring, on their homeward journey.

And the knowing, that I am always becoming. That even when, I think I am done,

You sing, you sing us home, the moon upon our backs.

Your minions travelling with us, through places and places of dreaming stones.

The caress of the shady sandy creek bed rippling into winds.

My faith is lit, by all you are, all you have been, and all you will be now.

My legs break upon the shores, that will carry me further, to your borderless infinities.

Without love, the long bondage and rigid enslavement, shall begin.

Without a trace, this story will enfold us, in her gentle secret wings.

And so the night land sings us home, to the horizon, that will again, become the dawn.
