Have you ever felt a longing?
A longing of belonging somewhere?
Has your body and heart ever ached
For the crisp fresh mountain air?

Have you ever felt homesick
For the vast wide open plains?
Where it is thought a blessing
For long awaited rains?

Have you ever wanted to venture
Through a forest of trees large and tall?
And feel the icy cold spray
Of a fresh mountain waterfall?

Have you ever longed to breathe the air
Of pastoral sheep grazing lands?
And run the woolly fleece of a sheep
Slowly through your hands?

Have you ever wanted to watch the stars
On a warm mild clear night?
And hear a cricket's chirp on the plain
In the fire's warm glowing light

If you have longed hard enough
For any one of these things
It's an ache that passes through your body
It's the homesick heart of a traveller's dreams
It's the song of freedom, that the landscape sings...
