                                                                                                              page-236 snakeys on the phone

thin white needle breath
from a tea strainer
i come rushing from my slumber
to a dry buzzing phone
dried like a hot mosquitoe
needle breath
needle breath
slice eyed melon mouth
from a sharp tea strainer
is your face pulpy and red
from the strain needle breath
i jump up and down on the receiver
with my slippers on
i try to reach you
to fix you right up
its 3.00 am
why are you waiting on the other end
i'd like to reach you
i sure would
while you're all hung up
i cannot sleep
the phone will explode again
spitting cherry pips at my slippers
and it will be you
still white breath
needle eyes
i cannot just let it hang there
all hung up on a cord
i would never sleep
i could feel your breath from my bed
if i coukd just slip through
needle breath
you wouldn't be breathing
snake on the phone
i'd whip crack your neck
