                                                                                                              page-154 THE LOSING BATTLE

As myself and others are fearing
The wildlife is disappearing
Factories and buildings are taking over
Smothering flowers and velvety clover

Koalas and possums and many related
Are slowly being exterminated
Where once stood a pin, proud and tall
Now a rubbish dump, no value at all

Where kangaroos hopped across the plains
Watered once a year with fresh rains
Now is watered by artificial showers
Making the land stale and sour

Man may laugh and chuckle
At the wildlife's losing battle
Although he's strong in power and wealth
He's fighting a losing battle with himself

After all the trees have gone
Where will we get our oxygen from?
When dogs are replaced by test tube pups
Then man will go mad and blow himself up.
