page-88 EXTINCTION OF A WATER LILY

A tiny water lily in a misty swamp
Floats a fluffy white pup on the ice
Crying for its mother with searching black eyes
To hunters its coat has a price

They come in great numbers to prey and kill
On the white water lily at the open of day
Big black eyes, dim with grief and despair
Ad their existence is ended
On the ice sheets barren and bare

For having a silky soft fur coat
That is pure and nice
At the end of a knife
And for being innocent and helpless
They've paid the price, the price of life

As a blanket of blackness covers the light
No sound is heard on a quiet dark night
Not one little gazing, fluffy head
Only scars of deep rich red

The water lily's have blossomed
Bloomed and died together ...
Forever ...
