A steamy morning shower
Another day on powdered tiles
Drizzle outside, another Monday
I know the letter box well
I reach in for the envelope
not bothering to look
It'll be there ...
And sometimes I think
It'd be a nice little shock
if one day it wasn't
Yeah ... sure. I have a habit.
But who gives a damn.
I've learnt to suck nutrients
from no-name noodles
I've learnt to sunlight soap my hair
and going without butter
never hurt anyone...But -
I get impatient for movies to reach TV
The torture of endless window shopping
I don't really care though
I have no responsibility
no house ...
No chance for that $163.00 Holden
Then what would I eat
no ... never a house
My cheque couldn't cope
I'm nearly twenty
God ... nearly twenty and I have nothing
But the occasional old movie
On a friend's TV ... and my poetry
I know. I'm just as good as
Everybody else
What do you do for a living?
Oh ... I'm a writer.
And I've reached the stage
where I don't give a damn.
