adolescents scaling council trees/ to
hear the speeches of leather jacket
wearers/ ripping off the first layer
of bark with their rap boots/ whilst
middle class figureheads/ SHOUT INTO
THE MIKE ABOUT PEACE/ (almost forgot
it is peace)/ & WRITE TO HAWKE & BUSH/
then they all go home to belt their
screaming kids/ & to watch the masked
anarchists/ being arrested on the
news/ one of them threw an egg at
the pro-war protestors/ who shrieked
down from a building/ but it's okay
it was a free range egg/ the plumbers
& trade unionists the socialists &
christians/ the greenies & politicians
all marching on by the city abattoir/
chanting peace slogans/ with trendie
peace mongers/ who cut holes in their
jeans/ whilst on the other side of
town/ the dirt poor scum/ untrendie/
not invited to the peaceful dead cow
bar-b-que/ are sewing their holes
together/ with cheap black cotton/
