CORAL HULL: POINT-BLANK-POOR
59. Mum's Artistic Block

Mum's Artex in the linen press, represent unfulfilled creativity.
Occasionally she gets them down
& tries to squeeze the hard paint out of them,
ripping into the pillow cases, cushion covers & table clothes.
Then she puts them back again
& her mouth has turned hard with the effort.
If you ask me & no one does,
she needs to chuck them all out & start a new life
& to acknowledge the purpose & function of the artist in herself.
Mum's Artex have been locked in the cupboard for fifteen years.
Occasionally her hands reach in for them, on those restless days.
She is still trying to clean the nibs. She hasn't learnt the lesson.
Still she is trying to squeeze a little bit of colour out of them.
