CORAL HULL: THIRTY SIX HOURS
MOUNTAIN MAKER

Lance Loam creates mountains by boring down into the earth with his head twisting and ferioscious like an earthward tornado. Lance Loam creates mountains that he will never see.

Lance Loam builds the second Great Dividing Range along the east coast of Australia. Over millions of years and eons of mind time, he has repeated this continual action of erosion and uplift.

Lance Loam comes crashing out of the earth in agonising recognition of his eternal birth. He erupts scorching from the flaking crust streaming hideously into freezing currents of air.

Lance Loam is barely existing. His teeth are clenched together, his eyes closed. He has barely reached the top. Dry air and sun-suck afterbirth quiver from his scorched lips and navel.

Lance Loam opens his eyes to sunlight, sunlight like fire beneath his eye lids. Worlds pour endlessly into his open centre in waves of scorching and joy-light. Lovingly seething it began to burn the back of his being. He held himself open as long as he could.

A scream that had been with him before this life. One that could follow him into the next. A forever scream escaped his primal lips.
