The half moon hung silently in the
Sky like an empty bowl of fruit. The
Night was calm and the wind
Whispered untold secrets to the
Trees. The night sky was cool and
Clear. Although the atmosphere was
Heavy with the scent of snow.
No sound was heard. Except for
The pitiful laugh of alley cats
As the first snowflake fluttered
Softly to settle on the ground. The
Cold hard pavement dissolved
The snowflakes fragile links until
No more was left of the flake
But a shining droplet of water.
Soon after more complex particles
Followed their pioneer and they
Too coated the earth like a milk
Frost icing on a sponge cake.
Time is of the essence and
Throughout the night peaceful
Nature is the ruler and the
Slumbering destroyer is
Nature's slave.
