Aqua marine is deep, blue green
like an exotic heated fungus
I swing amongst the vines
towards the rich and colourful
eye of a toucan
So thick and wet and dense
I wade through fat sticking leeches
like a delirious mosquito
feeding on my shoulder.
This town is alien an unknown
I am hotly tired, alone.
Tropical giants!
and the deepest, hottest green!
My God.
Bursting amphibians!
blow out at me like ammunition!
I'm hot and blocked and
sweating like a pipe ...
This jungle is smoking
with black boots and moisture ...
the animal's cry behind
that leaf!
What is that buzzing?
Malaria.
