if IIO told me that the colour of the sky was pink
& purple poker dots/ i would believe him/ i will
read his poetry as he is legendary/ i want to be
swept into the abyss by his whirlwind performance/
i want to be in the presence of his own sense of
greatness/ & i saw him once/ & just once he read
my poetry/ & yet i know that this genius or famous
he would not remember me/ & when he told me that
he hasn't heard of poet so & so/ then i knew that
poet meant nothing to me/ i want to see him in
the same way that his mirrors see him/ & if IIO
told me that the world had spun off its fragile
axis i would believe him/ & i may be just another
stranger on the street/ yet i want to listen to
him speak/ because he tells me his is great | |
