                                                                                                                page-48 THE CRY INSIDE

Sitting on the tram I thought: what am I going to do.
There is a crying inside me. I am a straight-faced variety.
But the crying inside is loud. People on the tram might hear.
I fear there is a baby inside me trying to breathe.
I look to either side of me not moving my head. My tear
Damp moist belly button overflowing beneath my t-shirt -
Drops are streaming from it. The cry inside is shaking me -
It is breaking free - hitting cloud bottoms - tree bottoms.
Is shaking the sky top from me. I bend over at my
Tram stop & cry. It comes hard at first then painful it
Comes. I am soaking. This has happened on trams to me, many
Times before. I reach into my backpack & produce a
Small cotton hospital towel; with which to dry my navel.
