                                                                                                                page-44 THE COWBOY

He walks the earth
In long wide strides
His legs are covered
With cattle hides

His eyes smile a secret
And grin with laughter
He utters two words
"Howdy partner!"

His eight gallon hat
sits firm on his head
Dust rises up where
his silver stirrups tread

The little tanned boy
His hair blonded by sun
Decides his times up
He has had his fun

He walks into the Saloon
He greets his mother proud
"Darling get out of that costume."
"And tend to the cows."

Quickly he looks around
However the Saloon has gone
And he tends to the cows
Where he got his name from.
