We Go Willingly Towards Your Holy Light
"This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all." [1 John 1:5, The Holy Bible, KJV]

Thinking of Dylan Thomas
Lord, we go willingly towards your holy light,
Angels sing your glory at the opening of day;
Praise, praise upon the brightening of night.
Though wise men perish thinking dark is right,
Because they lusted after the world, then they
Do not go willingly towards your holy light.
Good men, who lose all hope, cry at night
While their dreams of utopia still hold sway,
Rage, rage against your brightening light.
Wild men, ensnared by devils, in mid-flight,
And learn, too late, as illusions fade away,
Do not go willingly towards your holy light.
Grave men, near death, with second sight
Fearful eyes ablaze like suns eclipsed, they,
Rage, rage against your brightening light.
And you, Lord Jesus, upon that brave height,
Bless the tearful, who struggle with sin, I pray,
Go willingly, in peace towards your holy light.
Praise, praise upon the brightening of night.

"In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you." [John 14:2, The Holy Bible, KJV] |
