CORAL HULL: POETRY INSPIRED BY THE LORD OF THE RINGS
ITHILIEN

"Ithilien was a fair, green region of Gondor on the borders of Mordor." (The Thains Book)

The voice of suffering has swept along the Gondor plain.
The wistful barrows have endured after the war is won.
But won by whom? What darkness endures and will return?
The cost of fear and hate is high. For my heart is broken
by this hour, that haunts me and tears at me with sorrows.

But there is a star that shines above our kingdoms.
It will be there for the remainder of our lives.
It is an evening star that knows no end but love.
So it is here that we will move into the light,
for grace and beauty have remained this day,
to shine upon all the sorrows of our kindred.

This is our new beginning. I am with you, Eowyn.
We take our long road home, where we shall dwell,
by the wistful, peaceful pathways beneath the moon
and turning sunlit golden in the early light of dawn,
where once two brave Hobbits passed into doom,
by the silver emerald waterfalls bordering Ithilien.
