CORAL HULL: FAERY WOOD
The Tragedy of Samael

And Samael came to me, as if through a dream, saying, don't lock me out of your heart.
And so I plunged my being, into the darker places, but I could not become them for long.
Now we meet between the dusk and the dawn, our fingertips exploring the half light.
Our two sets of eyes, ever widening, in an ever growing awareness, of what we are not.

He saw me shining, where others could not. Together,  we had spoken the word of GOD.
He, my old companion, was already amongst us.
He began to salivate and his nocturnal hypnosis followed me into the woods.
His pupils already bloated like moons.         His victimhood cloaking his predatory ways.

Midnight gave him vision acutely sensitive to light, where his soul hungered in turmoil.
The only glimmer he knew, was that of precious jewels, lit by a million candle flames.

His only love in the mirror of his own great name, and countless reflections, all the same.

I was a willing lamb lost from the flock, having offered my innocence for the transfusion,
To the bloodless, lifeless fiend, in the company of hate, the ruler of the nameless vermin.
He smiled at my cowardice, and relished in my need, to plunge our shadows into the light.

Forgive me,   I tried to save the world, to make up for my lack of faith.

Why must I be tempted by these fruitless rescues,
With the eyes of the deceiver ever upon me?
Man does not live on love alone, but by a trillion sabotages within the unlit mind.

I followed him like a brother, as he led me into the valley of shadows.

His fall from grace, and my weakening grasp, was the greatest tragedy heaven had known.
I saw him plummet from our pulpit, as helpless as an infant, as powerful as a daimon,
My temptation to reach down, down, and down.
My heart still moist with grief                   and howling after him.
My eyes still glittering with longing.
